(Crisp) Movie Review: RETRIBUTION by FENIL SETA

Retribution stars Liam Neeson and is about a man who’s stuck in a car with explosives. The film reminds one of thrillers like Phone Booth or the Hindi film Dhamaka. It is a remake of the Spanish film El desconocido and it had more meat and thrill. The remake, on the other hand, is very simplistic and unexciting after a point. It starts well but the latter half is poor. The suspense is illogical and will leave viewers bewildered. Liam Neeson does his best to salvage the film. Jack Champion (Zack), Emily Kusche (Mila), Embeth Davidtz (Heather), Matthew Modine (Muller Anders) and Noma Dumezweni (Anegla) are all just okay. Technically, the film is top-class. But due to a poor script and disappointing climax, Retribution turns out to be an avoidable film.

My rating – * ½ out of 5!
