(Crisp) Movie Review: EXPEND4BLES by FENIL SETA

Expend4bles starts in an expected manner. But there comes a twist very soon in the story. The film should have gone on a high from here. Sadly, it drops. The action moments are not that exciting. We have seen far better and nail-biting action scenes in the previous films of the franchise. The track of a character switching sides is unconvincing. The villain, in fact, is weak. Lastly, there are no subtitles and this leads to a struggle, especially during the scenes of Jason Statham. Jason, however, is the best actor of the lot and steals the show. Sylvester Stallone also does well but shockingly, he has what can be called an extended guest appearance. Megan Fox (Gina) looks like a million bucks and delivers a damn good performance. 50 Cent (Easy Day), Dolph Lundgren (Gunner), Randy Couture (Toll Road), Jacob Scipio (Galan) and Levy Tran (Lash) don’t get much scope. Iko Uwais (Rahmat) looks stylish and is fine but gets sidelined. Tony Jaa is entertaining in a small role. All in all, Expend4bles is the weakest film of the series.

My rating – ** out of 5!
