(Crisp) Movie Review: JEWEL THIEF – THE HEIST BEGINS by FENIL SETA

Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins, which has released today on Netflix, is a fun-filled entertainer. It is mounted on a huge scale and gives the feel of a big-screen biggie. The film begins on a great note and then drops. But the pre-climax is very entertaining and keeps one hooked. On the flipside, there are a lot of cinematic liberties. A crucial twist is forcefully added and could have been done away with. The cop character is presented like a clown and is the most predictable part of the film. Saif Ali Khan looks dashing and delivers a supreme performance. Jaideep Ahlawat puts in an equally impressive performance. Nikita Dutta has a crucial role and is decent. Kunal Kapoor is heavily let down by the writing. Chirjyot Singh Kohli (Chaddha) and Vinay Sharma (Shekhar) raise laughs. Kulbhushan Kharbanda (Jayant Roy), Sumit Gulati (Chunky), Gagan Arora (Avi) lend able support. Meenal Sahu (Nikki; hacker), Dorendra Singh Loitongbam (Moosa), Peter Muxka Manuel (Prince Gamunu) and Paayal Nair (Jennifer Lobo; museum director) do well. All in all, Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins is a timepass flick. If you don’t mind the cinematic liberties, then chances are that you’ll have a gala time.
