(Crisp) Movie Review: FIGHTER by FENIL SETA

Fighter starts on a rocking note and keeps one engaged till the very end. The comedy is minimal but works while the action scenes are rocking. It’s also simplistic and easy to understand. What compliments the action are the emotional moments. Director Siddharth Anand‘s action films have had touching scenes. But with Fighter, he has taken this aspect to another level. The climax works big time due to the strong emotional base and is truly clapworthy. On the flipside, the second half is stretched and the songs are very poor, except ‘Mitti’. The villain is also over-the-top. Speaking of performances, Hrithik Roshan breathes life into the role of Patty. He looks dashing and his performance is spot-on, especially in the emotional scenes. Deepika Padukone gets to play a well-written character and as expected, she rocks the show. Anil Kapoor also contributes nicely to the narrative. Akshay Oberoi and Karan Singh Grover are superb and lend able support. Rishabh Ravinder Sawhney (Azhar Akhtar) should have kept his performance subtle. Ashutosh Rana and Sharib Hashmi deliver memorable performances in cameos. Sanjeeda Sheikh and Talat Aziz are decent. All in all, Fighter is a paisa-vasool entertainer. Don’t miss!

My rating – **** out of 5!
