WILL KAHAANI 2 RECREATE THE MAGIC OF PART 1?
Kahaani generated considerable excitement before the release but the viewers then had adopted a wait-and-watch policy. This reflected in its poor opening. But as soon as reports were out that it’s an outstanding piece of cinema, viewers flocked to theatres in hordes. It turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2012. The success was even more significant since the film didn’t rely on conventional stuff like romance, sex, music etc to lure crowd. It was the script that emerged as the hero.
Now the makers are ready with the second part, Kahaani 2. It’s not a sequel but a part of the franchise. Yet again, it’s Vidya Balan who plays the lead while there’s also Arjun Rampal. Just like the first part, this one is also a thriller and some nice suspense and twist and turn is expected. Sadly, the trailers haven’t been great. The excitement is missing with the promotions too. Also, Vidya’s star power has taken a beating since Kahaani. Kahaani arrived immediately after The Dirty Picture, when Vidya was at her peak. That also helped. Right now she is not and this can affect the prospects of the film. Hence, a big opening can be ruled out. But if the response is positive, then obviously it can turn out to be huge grosser!
