(Crisp) Review: RAHENGE SADAA GARDISH MEIN TAARE by FENIL SETA

Rahenge Sadaa Gardish Mein Taare is a kind of a cinematic adaption of the much loved play, Gardish Mein Taare, starring Arif Zakaria and Sonali Kulkarni. It’s a part of Cine Play and hence, as director Saif Hyder Hasan puts it, is a cross between cinema and theatre. This is not one of those video recordings of plays but has been shot to make it for an engaging cinematic format. The story is inspired from the lives of Guru Dutt and Geeta Dutt and performance-wise, both nail it without doubt. Rajesh Khera and Saif Hyder Hasan too do well. Songs are melodious and keep the interest going. On the flipside, the interest dips at places. This is a very new format for me and moreover, I have seen and enjoyed the play a lot. Hence, to see it being made in a cinematic-theatrical fusion style took away some of the charm. It’s just 70 minutes long and yet seemed dragging but it didn’t seem like that even for a second as a play. All in all, Rahenge Sadaa Gardish Mein Taare is a one-time watch and those who haven’t seen the play should hopefully like it more!

My rating – *** out of 5!
