(Crisp) Movie Review: THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER by FENIL SETA

The Exorcist: Believer is laced with an intriguing storyline. The idea to bring a character back from the first part, The Exorcist (1973), is a masterstroke. But the horror is minimal and after a point, the film gets clichéd. The film also ends abruptly, probably because a sequel is in the offing. Lidya Jewett (Anegla) and Olivia Marcum (Katherine) do a great job, especially when they get possessed. Leslie Odom Jr (Victor Fielding) is emotionless. Norbert Leo Butz (Tony; Katherine’s father), Jennifer Nettles (Miranda, Katherine’s mother), E J Bonilla (Father Maddox) and Ann Dowd (Ann) are decent. Okwui Okpokwasili (Dr Beehibe) doesn’t have much to do. All in all, The Exorcist: Believer is disappointing and wastes a great idea.

My rating – ** out of 5!
