(Crisp) Movie Review: SAW X by FENIL SETA

Saw X‘s initial portions are very interesting. The film is set between the events of Saw and Saw II and brings John Kramer back. The reason for John to take revenge seems justified. However, we have seen him as a crazy villain before and here, he’s the one who is wronged. Hence, the makers expect us to root for him and that’s difficult to digest. Moreover, the torturous tasks give a been-there-done-that feeling. Speaking of performances, Tobin Bell (John Kramer) does very well. Synnøve Macody Lund (Dr Cecilia Pederson) and Shawnee Smith (Amanda) leave a mark. Renata Vaca (Gabriela), Paulette Hernandez (Valentina), Octavio Hinojosa (Mateo), Joshua Okamoto (Diego) and Steven Brand (Parker Sears) are okay. All in all, Saw X is an average fare.

My rating – ** ½ out of 5!
