(Crisp) Movie Review: RALANG ROAD by FENIL SETA

Ralang Road has an unusual setting and attempts to show Sikkim’s dark side where school kids are on their way to becoming hardened criminals, drivers are drunk and outsiders are creating havoc. But the film’s treatment is weird and psychedelic and it fails to create an impact. It becomes difficult to comprehend what’s going on. Despite being just 103 minutes long, it tests viewers’ patience. Many viewers left mid-way. Shockingly, there was very feeble applause at the end and I have never seen that happening at any film festival ever! On the positive side, the performances were great and few sequences are well shot and written. If only the whole film was in a similar zone, Ralang Road surely would have worked!

My rating – ** out of 5!
