Movie Review: LUST STORIES 2 by FENIL SETA

Lust Stories 2, which has released today on Netflix, is a one-time watch. Like all anthologies, this one comprises of some great and some disappointing short stories

1. Made For Each Other: The story is amusing and R Balki‘s direction is light-hearted. Though it seems funny on the surface, the makers leave the audience with a great message. Neena Gupta steals the show while Mrunal Thakur also does a fine job. Angad Bedi is underutilized. Hemant Kher (Cheeku; Veda’s father) and Kanupriya Pandit (Suchi; Veda’s mother) leave a mark.

2. The Mirror: The plot is highly unexpected. Konkona Sen Sharma handles the film sensitively. However, at 36 minutes, it is the longest film and becomes repetitive after a point. Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash both are terrific. Shrikant Yadav (Kamal; Seema’s husband) puts up a fine act.

3. Sex With Ex: It is the steamiest story of the lot and keeps one captivated. Sujoy Ghosh’s story is intriguing but his direction will leave viewers confused, wondering what exactly happened in the film. The suspense is also silly. Tamannaah Bhatia looks like a million bucks and is first-rate, performance-wise. Vijay Varma, as always, is dependable.

4. Tilchatta: This is the weakest story of the lot. At 33 minutes, it moves painfully slow. The suspense is a shocker but comes too late in the day. Kajol is good but is letdown by the writing. Kumud Mishra is superb. Anushka Kaushik (Rekha) leaves a mark. Zeeshan Nadaf (Ankur) is fair.

My rating – *** out of 5!
