Genius as expected is a terrible flick. We have had so many examples of trashy star kids getting launched and delivering senseless films and even commercial disasters like Shiv Darshan’s Karle Pyar Karle and Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha, Mustafa Burmawalla’s Machine etc. Yet Anil Sharma who has always had the problem of failing to accept the reality went ahead and made this trashy gem that’s sure to be trolled like anything. Utkarsh Sharma (seen as Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel’s son in Gadar) is terribly miscast for the part. His expressions are awkward and he really should have worked on his skills rather than get launched so soon. Also he looks like a kid and it’s laughable to see him handling a special team in RAW. Ishita Chauhan is nothing special. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the best part of the film and raises genuine laughs. Mithun Chakraborty, Abhimanyu Singh, Ayesha Jhulka etc are wasted. Himesh Reshammiya’s songs are nice and melodious and sadly, they won’t have a larger shelf life as they became a part of this disastrous film.
