(Crisp) Movie Review: BABLI BOUNCER by FENIL SETA

Babli Bouncer (released today on Disney+ Hotstar) offers nothing new in terms of story but makes for a nice watch due to the bouncer factor and the light and funny moments. The 116-minute-long film never gets boring and moves at a neat pace. The romantic track takes up the maximum screen time and though it’s not novel, it makes for a nice watch. On the flipside, the climax is thrilling but not as power-packed as one would expect it to be. Secondly, Madhur Bhandarkar doesn’t delve into the world of lady bouncers, their problems and challenges the way he did with bar dancers in Chandni Bar and entertainment journalists in Page 3. Speaking of performances, Tamannaah Bhatia does a fine job. She’s let down by the dialogues but compensates with her performance and the way she gets into the skin of her character. Abhishek Bajaj leaves a huge mark. Sahil Vaid and Saurabh Shukla are dependable. Sabyasachi Chakraborty (Saurav Dutta) and Ashwini Kalsekar (Bobby Didi) are damn good in special appearances. Upasana Singh (Dolly Chaddha) is over the top but works for her part. All in all, Babli Bouncer is a timepass OTT watch.

My rating – *** out of 5!
