DRISHYAM THE CONCLUSION IS A BLOCKBUSTER; ON ITS WAY TO BECOMING AJAY DEVGN’S HIGHEST GROSSER
As predicted last week, Drishyam The Conclusion was able to cross the Rs. 60 crore mark on the day of its release, stunning the trade and industry. The film opened at Rs. 62.50 crores thanks to the insane hype and also because it released on a National Holiday. Usually, Saturday or Sunday is the best day for a film. In case of Drishyam The Conclusion, it collected the highest on day 1.
On Saturday, Drishyam The Conclusion earned Rs. 51 crores, which was also huge. On Sunday, it jumped to Rs. 59 crores. Hence, it collected Rs. 172.50 crores in three days. On Monday and Tuesday, it accumulated Rs. 20 crores and Rs. 19 crores, respectively. Its five-day collections were Rs. 211.50 crores and its first-week collections are expected to be around Rs. 238-240 crores.
Ajay Devgn’s highest grosser is Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which collected Rs. 269.77 crores. Drishyam The Conclusion will cross this figure on Saturday, October 10. It has no competition this week as Udta Teer got pushed to October 23, presumably due to the huge business done by the Ajay Devgn-starrer on its first day.
It now remains to be seen where it goes from here. Week 2 will be huge, after which it’ll face competition from new releases. Once it crosses that barrier, it’ll have a clean run until Diwali. A lifetime of more than Rs. 300 crores is on and if it can cross the Rs. 400 crore mark, it’ll be a huge feat.
