(Crisp) Movie Review: PREM KEETANU by FENIL SETA

Prem Keetanu’s characters, along with their joys and problems, feel straight out of life. As a result, much of what happens in the film feels relatable. An official remake of Premalu, Prem Keetanu is neatly adapted and set in the Delhi-Banaras-Lucknow belt. On the flipside, the film has too many songs, and none of them are memorable. Issues also crop up around the interval point and in the scenes where the narrative turns serious. The protagonist’s actions are such that one may not root for him at all times. Veer Pahariya is in much better form here than in Sky Force and convincingly looks the part of a small-town lad. However, he could have done better in the emotional scenes. Aafiya Sayed is a great find and delivers a first-rate performance. Nikhil Vijay steals the show. Aparshakti Khurana gets his act right as the man who is too full of himself. Rakesh Bedi (Suhani’s father) has a limited presence in the first half but makes up for it in the post-interval portions. All in all, Prem Keetanu is an average flick.
