WILL KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN MANAGE TO BE A HUGE SUCCESS?
Eid is a few days away and all eyes are on the grand release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. It releases tomorrow, on April 21, and is highly awaited due to the presence of Salman Khan. After the pandemic, the superstar was seen in Radhe and Antim. Antim got a full-fledged theatrical release but had Salman in a supporting role. Radhe meanwhile had a very limited release in cinemas and was majorly consumed on OTT. This means that Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is Salman Khan’s first proper theatrical release in more than three years. The last such film was Dabangg 3, which was released in December 2019.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is a multi-starrer and it also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh, Bhumika Chawla, Jagapathi Babu, Raghav Juyal, Jassie Gill, Siddharth Nigam, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, Vinali Bhatnagar and Vijender Singh. It is directed by Farhad Samji and at one point, it was supposed to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. But Salman and the veteran producer had some disagreements. As a result, Salman decided to produce this film under his own banner, Salman Khan Films, in association with Zee Studios.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’s teaser was released way back on Republic Day and was attached with the prints of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. On Valentine’s Day, the first song ‘Naiyo Lagda’ was launched. Though some felt it was outdated, a vast majority of the audience lapped it up. The subsequent songs, too, got noticed. The trailer was finally released on April 10, just 11 days before release.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan faces several challenges. The teaser got a good response but the trailer hasn’t been universally liked. While the songs overall have been accepted, the recent song ‘Lets Dance Chotu Motu’ has been panned. Many fear that the film will be a poor product and hence, are waiting for the response to pour in before booking their tickets. Secondly, Eid falls on Saturday or Sunday. The day of release is pre-Eid and the ticket sales on this day are not encouraging.
Due to these factors, the opening day numbers of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan won’t be huge and are expected to be in the range of Rs. 15 and 17 crores. The collections on Saturday and Sunday would be better due to the festival. The weekend collections will be around Rs. 65-70 crores or even more. If the response is good, the film can easily cross the Rs. 150 crores or even Rs. 175 crores mark as it has very little competition till the release of Jawan on June 2. But if the response is poor, the collections will start falling from Monday onwards. It’ll still enter the Rs. 100 crores club but won’t go far from hereon.
