(Crisp) Movie Review: TIPPPSY by FENIL SETA

Tipppsy is directed by Deepak Tijori and also features him in a crucial role. The plot is promising – four girls go to Goa and get into trouble after their drinks are spiked. There’s murder and many other interesting aspects involved and this could have surely made for an interesting whodunit. Sadly, the film suffers from poor dialogues, extremely low production values and most importantly, a bad climax. The suspense is unpredictable but the way it plays out is not convincing and even the motive is not strong. An important plot point is forgotten after a point. The five girls, however, give their best shot. Natasha Suri and Kainaat Arora do very well followed by Alankrita Sahai, Nazia Hussain and Sonia Birje. Kainaat deserves special mention for getting the Haryanvi accent right. Deepak Tijori is effortless as the cop. Aditya Lakhia is a bit over the top. Danish Bhat looks dashing and is fine. But he gets a raw deal. Harjinder Singh is okay and could have delivered his dialogues better. Mandeep Kaur Sandhu is decent. Bharat Bhatia is passable. All in all, Tipppsy fails to make the desired impact.
