(Crisp) Movie Review: THREE OF US by FENIL SETA

Three Of Us is a Hindi film starring Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat and Swanand Kirkire and is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware of Paatal Lok and Killa fame. It tells the story of a woman who travels from Mumbai to a village in Konkan for a reason. This 95 minute-long-film is simple and clean and makes beautiful comments about relationships, past traumas, a desire to get back to the roots etc. Most of the film is set in Konkan and Avinash Arun Dhaware is also the cinematographer. No one can capture rural Maharashtra better than him and hence, the film is visually stunning. The bonds shared by the characters keep the interest going. However, the track of the witch gets a bit complicated in an otherwise uncomplicated film. Also, it’s a film that doesn’t have highpoints as such and we are not used to watching such slow-moving, unhurried drama. Shefali Shah delivers a fantastic performance; watch out for her priceless expressions. Jaideep Ahlawat is too good, as expected. Swanand Kirkire also puts it in his best forward. Shruja Prabhudesai (Roopali) leaves a mark. All in all, Three Of Us is worth watching.

My rating – *** out of 5!
