(Crisp) Movie Review: THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE by FENIL SETA

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a fast-paced entertainer that ensures that there’s something happening every minute. Those who have played the game will feel nostalgic hearing the BGM and seeing the elements from the video game once again woven well into the narrative. The younger generation will be impressed by the animation and the characters. Yoshi, especially, will be quite lapped up. On the flipside, the plot of The Super Mario Bros Movie was simplistic. Here, it gets a bit complicated. One popular character from the first part is missing, sadly. An important aspect reminds one of Frozen. The bonds shared by various characters are either underdeveloped or puzzling. The voiceovers by Chris Pratt (Mario) and Charlie Day (Luigi) are appropriate. But it’s Jack Black (Bowser) and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr) that steal the show. Brie Larson (Rosalina) is lovely, while Glen Powell (Fox McCloud) is aptly cast. All in all, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is a timepass flick and a must-see for the fans of the game.
