Tere Ishk Mein‘s first half is fine. There’s a lot of drama and also the confrontation scenes are original and not copied. This gives the film an edge. Some scenes seem to be added to appeal to Dhanush’s South fans; but it works and doesn’t seem out of place. There are a lot of songs and all of them are well-woven (shockingly, the super-hit title song is barely played in the whole of the film). The second half also starts on a good note but soon, the film slips. The goings-on become bizarre and also messy. The climax fails to work and will leave viewers dazed, as at this point, the film goes on a different tangent. Thankfully, the performances are strong. Dhanush delivers a power-packed performance and brings the required rage and vulnerability. Kriti Sanon will benefit the most from this film as she gets to display her wide range of acting and comes out with flying colours. Prakash Raj is terrific, while Tota Roy Choudhury (Yashwant Behniwal) is a surprise. Viineet Kumar Siingh (V Shekhawat) does well in a special appearance. Paramvir Cheema (Jasjeet), Chittaranjan Tripathy and Jaya Bhattacharya (professors) are decent in small roles. Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub (Murari) is entertaining. All in all, Tere Ishk Mein is an average flick.
My rating – ** ½ out of 5!
