(Crisp) Movie Review: SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE by FENIL SETA

Sisu: Road To Revenge is the sequel to the much-loved 2022 action film Sisu. Yet again, the silent protagonist goes all out while fighting the baddies through his grit, determination and wit. The scale this time is more compared to the last film and so is the bloodshed. A few stunts will leave viewers amazed. Writer-director Jalmari Helander doesn’t give out everything in the initial portions and reserves some for the climax, which is also something to watch out for. Unfortunately, yet again, the goings-on are too far-fetched and there are far too many cinematic liberties. In some places, gore is needlessly added, just for the heck of it. In some places, the film also gets unpredictable. Jorma Tommila yet again rocks the show and the way he communicates just through his eyes is seen to be believed. This is a performance worthy of an Oscar nomination. Stephen Lang is superb as the arch nemesis, while Richard Brake (KGB officer) is apt in a small role. All in all, Sisu: Road To Revenge is better than the first part and is a treat for action film lovers. Try watching it in cinemas; home viewing will not give you the same high.
