(Crisp) Movie Review: SHELTER by FENIL SETA

Shelter‘s basic plotline is quite cliched – a mysterious man with a dark past who lives all alone and whose life suddenly gets a new meaning. Even Bollywood has had such films like Rocky Handsome, Awarapan, etc. The first 10 minutes are just okay and moreover, the film has no twist or suspense as such. Yet, it makes for a fun watch. The makers have kept the duration in check (106 minutes). The circumstances under which the ex-assassin has to take care of the young girl is intriguing. The highlight, of course, is the action scenes, which keep the interest going. The car chase one especially stands out. As expected, Jason Statham is a pro in such roles. This time, he also tugs at the viewers’ heartstrings. Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Jessie) is lovely and complements Jason beautifully. Bill Nighy (Stephen Manafort), Naomi Ackie (Roberta Frost) and Bryan Vigier (James Workman) leave a mark. All in all, if you enjoy slick action and Jason Statham in his element, Shelter is worth a watch on the big screen.
