(Crisp) Movie Review: FREAKIER FRIDAY by FENIL SETA

Freakier Friday is the sequel to the much loved 2003 film Freaky Friday. The madness this time is double as not just two but four people get sucked into the body swapping fiasco. As expected, it results in a lot of entertainment. The film also gets quite touching and the parallels drawn with the first film are lovely. However, Freaky Friday also worked due to its nail-biting moments and this aspect is missing in this film. Some scenes barely raise any laughs. The makers also faltered with Jamie Lee Curtis‘ character; after being swapped with a snooty British girl, there should have ideally been tons of entertainment, but sadly, that doesn’t happen. Jamie, however, delivers a fantastic performance as expected. Lindsay Lohan proves she’s still stunning and a fine performer. Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons have important parts and perform ably. Manny Jacinto (Eric) and Chad Michael Murray (Jake) look dashing and do well. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Ella) is fair, but her track is half-baked. All in all, Freakier Friday is a timepass entertainer and worth watching for the lovers of the first part.
