(Crisp) Movie Review: EK CHATUR NAAR by FENIL SETA

Ek Chatur Naar is a nice surprise of the season. The subject is interesting and the film sucks you into the world of the protagonists from the first scene itself. The ‘Naagin’ connection is amusing; in fact, the film could have been titled ‘Naagin’! The intermission point is quite impressive and unexpected. Post-interval, the madness continues but at this point, the film gets too lengthy. The finale doesn’t make the desired impact, though the film ends on a justified note. The VFX, at this point, is tacky. Divya Khossla gets into the skin of a lower-class woman effortlessly. Neil Nitin Mukesh, as always, delivers a first-rate performance. Chhaya Kadam raises some laughs while Rajniesh Duggal is lovely in a cameo. Yashpal Sharma, Zakir Hussain and Sushant Singh and Heli Daruwalla (Tina), Rose Sardana (Anjali) and Geeta Agrawal Sharma (Abhishek’s mother) do well in supporting roles. All in all, Ek Chatur Naar is a clever, one-time watch film.
