Ameena released on April 10, 2024 and today, March 6, it completed 100 weeks in MovieTime Hub multiplex in Goregaon, Mumbai, believe it or not. How it happened and whether it’s organic are anybody’s guess. Saw this film in its 98th week and I was the only one in the theatre. It is badly directed with a lot of scenes shot secretly in guerrilla style at J W Mariott Juhu, Senegal, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles and, believe it or not, even at Cannes during the film festival. The way Meena aka Ameena, walks away scot-free from the law after committing three murders is seen to be believed. I am yet to recover from the twist that no one would see coming. The film tries to raise a serious topic, but the shoddy execution spoils it all. Performance by lead actor Rekha Rana is strictly okay. Ananath Narayan Mahadevan is the only one who performs ably. The rest of the actors ham. All in all, if you are into trashy cinema, don’t miss Ameena. Might be discontinued from MovieTime Hub after it completes 100 ‘glorious’ weeks.
