Aap Jaisa Koi, which has released today on Netflix, opens on a very stylish note that is sure to bring a smile to the viewers’ faces. Often, trailers give out a lot about the film. Thankfully, the promo of this film doesn’t divulge an important plot point. The chemistry between the two leads is adorable. The second half is when the real drama begins and keeps you quite hooked. Thankfully, the makers didn’t stretch it and ended the film at the right time. More importantly, the message it delivers is hard-hitting. On the flipside, two significant characters get a raw deal. A naughty joke in the film must have sounded interesting on paper but didn’t work. Lastly, a whole 10-minute track in the first half is childish. Both R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh are equally very good. Both play characters are poles apart and seem very convincing when they fall for each other thanks to their performances. Namit Das (Deepak) is apt as the sidekick. Manish Chaudhari is always great while playing a strict patriarch while Ayesha Raza leaves a huge mark. Shriyam Bhagnani (Nisha) is decent; Shubhronil Chatterjee (Joy Mamaji) looks dashing and delivers a fine performance. The actors playing Madhu’s family members are fair but get limited scope. Songs are okay but their picturization is worth watching, especially ‘Jab Tu Sajan’. All in all, Aap Jaisa Koi is a simple, progressive love story told stylishly yet simply.
