A Big Bold Beautiful Journey rests on a novel idea and the casting is very enticing. The film begins on an amusing and intriguing note. But soon, the plot loses its sheen. A few scenes are definitely memorable, but overall, it fails to leave the desired impact. The narrative gets boring in some places and also what must have appeared fascinating on paper doesn’t translate the same way on screen. Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie deliver fine performances and rise above the script. Phoebe Waller-Bridge gets her act right, while Lily Rabe (the mother) is lovely. All in all, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is avoidable.
